Sypnosis:
Based on the very popular children's book first published in 1954 by Ted Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss. "Horton Hears a Who" is about an imaginative elephant who hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help.

Review:
Horton (voice of Jim Carrey) is an elephant who lives his life much as animated elephants in animated jungles do, until the day a remarkable things happens. He discovers voices coming from a speck of dust as it floats by his enormous ears. Convinced that there are tiny people on that speck of dust, Horton captures it on the tip of a clover flower and endeavors to communicate with its inhabitants. He succeeds, and begins a conversation with the Mayor of Whoville (Steve Carell), who urges Horton to find a safe place for the speck lest his entire world be wiped out. Horton agrees, but he encounters resistance. The Kangaroo (Carol Burnett) who rules over the jungle is a firm believer in the doctrine that "if you can't see it, it's not there," and she can't see any people on Horton's speck, so she hires the vulture Vlad (Will Arnett) to eliminate it. Meanwhile, the Mayor has trouble convincing the Whos that there's a big elephant in the sky talking to him. Even his wife, Sally (Amy Poehler), is skeptical. Only a Doctor Who named Mary Lou Larue (Isla Fisher) believes him.

"Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who" is one of those rare family films that actually entertains the whole family. It's a perfect mix of jokes for the adults and silly moments for the children. Thanks to Jim Carrey's voice acting. It was perfectly fit for Horton. Carrey's comedy combined with the CG animation of the element ends up being a great performance which i think it was a great combination of voice acting and animation.

Fundamentally, Horton Hears a Who! is a kids' movie but, as is often the case with today's animated features, care is taken to include material that works both adults and kids. This movie was fun enough that I think even if you don't have kids, you'll find "Horton Hears a Who" to be worth checking out.

"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" is much like its 2004 predecessor and I will be one of the few critics to say that I don't think that's a bad thing. This time, treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) is presented with a torn-out page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth which implicates his great grandfather as being a co-conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. To prove his ancestors innocence, he and his treasure hunting team of Riley (Justin Bartha), his tech expert, and Abigail (Diane Kruger), his ex-girlfriend must travel from London to Paris to Washington in order to find clues that will lead them to a lost city of gold. Helping him as well is his historian father (Jon Voight) and college professor mother (Helen Mirren). And hot on his heels is Mitch Wilkinson (Ed Harris), who desperately wants to become a memorable part of history himself.

The story was pretty good I like the idea of the film as well I like these types of films. With Indiana Jones coming out next year it nice to see a film that uses the same style and grace like the classic film. The film was about 2 hr and 5 mins and it held my attention from start to finish. It did not get boring at all and was just as good as the first one but the first one was a better film overall. Overall I think this is a great film to check out of the Christmas holiday which is a very crowed season with 5 films coming out this week and 4 coming out next week. Make sure you put this film high on your list to check out you will not be disappointed.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets is a fun ride. It has all the action and twists you need to keep the grown-ups interested, and it fills things out with some strong action and adventure that will keep the kids happy as well. This film is utterly unbelievable, sometimes silly and totally predictable, but it’s loads of fun and an adventure ride for the whole family.

But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time.

Reviews:
I really Enjoy watching this film. It was the third cinematic adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel with the same title, has been in development for a very long time. Will Smith also is good as Robert Neville. The role requires a lot of him and he delivers on all fronts. He's reasonably believable as a research scientist. He's believable as a concerned father in the flashbacks. He's believable as a man on the brink of insanity. And as past films have shown, he can handle the action well. All this together, with a touch of his trademark humor here and there, make it one of his more memorable performances.

"I Am Legend" also does a great job of building up suspense. The film goes for long stretches where very little happens, then it builds up to incredibly intense confrontations between Robert and the creatures. His first encounter with them in a dark building is quite disturbing and certainly sets the audience on edge. They manage to keep this suspense going with every other following confrontation.

All in all, this movie was very fun to watch. Im sure that those interested in post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure will satisfy them in watching "I Am Legend".

Race Against Time in "Ice Age: The Melt Down"

The sequel Ice Age: The Meltdown is a rousing and a good follow-up to the 2002 hit Ice Age. It features fun new characters, some great gags, and more antics by Scrat. However, some scary moments and profanity jokes make it more appropriate for older kids than younger ones. Unlike the original movie, Meltdown setting aside tedious heartwarming material and lectures on life, “Meltdown” charges full ahead with bright gags and snappy action, making for an unexpectedly satisfying sequel.

The sequel picks up in the midst of global warming when all of the animals of the Arctic valley are forced to leave before the ice turns into a huge body of water. The trio from the first film, Manny the Mammoth (Romano), Sid the Sloth (Leguizamo), and Diego the Tiger (Leary), find themselves in a virtual water park along with their fellow beasts. However, they soon come to the realization that disaster is looming. The ice dam that keeps their valley dry is melting and threatens to wipe them all out in a flood. (I guess it's a prehistoric New Orleans.) All of the creatures head towards the other end of the valley where they have heard that there is an ark, of sorts, that can save them from the flood.

Manny's situation is particularly unique in that everyone believes he's the last of his mammoth species. Manny may be ready to start a family, but nobody has seen another mammoth for a long time. That is, until he miraculously finds Ellie, the only female mammoth left in the world. There's one little hitch – they can't stand each other and Ellie somehow thinks she's a possum! Accompanied by her two possum brothers Eddie and Crash, she refuses to believe that she's a mammoth but she joins our heroic trio for protection.

Meantime, Manny, Sid and Diego quickly learn that the warming climate has one major drawback: A huge glacial dam holding off oceans of water is about to break, threatening the entire valley. The only chance of survival lies at the other end of the valley. So our three heroes, along with Ellie, Crash and Eddie, form the most unlikely family in any "Age" as they embark on a mission across an ever-changing, increasingly dangerous landscape towards their salvation. Will they be wiped out or will there be an "Ice Age 3"? And how will Scrat inevitably save the day?

I enjoyed "Ice Age: The Meltdown" quite a bit. The film is wackier than its predecessor and features a lot less drama. This really increases the pacing of the story and allows more time for the characters to play up their strengths. While the characters from the original return true to form, a few new characters are added that fit in perfectly with the cast. Leading them is Queen Latifah as Ellie. She's funny and charming as a mammoth that thinks she's a possum. She hangs from trees and creeps around with amusing results. Accompanying her are Seann William Scott as Crash and Josh Peck as Eddie. They're kind of annoying at first, but they grow on you as the film progresses. They end up delivering some of the funnier moments of the movie.

"Ice Age: The Meltdown" has a number of great moments. Scrat returns to deliver most of them as he continues his never-ending quest for acorns. Scrat's physical comedy bits of him trying to secure acorns are some of the funniest of any animated film. Besides the antics of the possums, there's a surreal musical number where a group of vultures sing "Food, Glorious Food". It's so delightful you'll never think of the song in the same way again.

From the animation point of view, it's almost identical to its predecessor. There's little change in the characters or environments. However, they do some impressive tricks with matted, wet hair on Manny and hair floating underwater. Those pieces of animation were very well done.

Al in all, i can say that Ice Age: The Meltdown is more better than the original movie in almost all aspects. It offer us a complete movie experience as the suspense is raised with vultures, killer fish, and treacherous terrain, but there is also a sweet romance and laughs for moviegoers of all ages. Let's Play A Game in Saw III

For the third installment of the Saw series, Jigsaw is back playing vicious games with his victims, placing them in elaborate death traps and giving them difficult choices if they hope to escape.

The Saw franchise is one of the hottest horror series out there. It really brings a very distinct psychological twist themes for which the genre is known, and yet also features the exciting "gorific" moments with the unique traps that lead "villain" Jigsaw creates. Saw III delivers a full on horrific excitement and energy from its very first scene to its jaw-dropping conclusion. It is undoubtedly shines with some of the most capable and incredible filmmaking ever seen from director Darren Lynn Bousman. IMO Saw III is the best horror film of 2006.

Saw III picks up immediately following Saw II at a very swift pace. Donnie Wahlberg's Detective Eric Walters is still chained up in the basement bathroom but taking extreme measures to escape, while his former partner (Dina Meyer) is trying to find him. Instead, she locates the scattered remains of Jigsaw's latest victim before falling herself as prey to one of his deathtraps. While on the otherhand Jigsaw is dying, his time is growing short, but there is still time enough for one more game. This game will be a little different though as it's not Jigsaw pulling the strings but Amanda, his young apprentice. Amanda sets things in play for one last go ‘round but this one has the highest stakes of all. While city detectives scramble to locate Jigsaw, Dr. Lynn Denlon is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his vicious chessboard. One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw, bedridden and on the verge of death. She is told that she must keep the madman alive for as long as it takes another one of his victims, Jeff, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of Jigsaw's own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of them.

Saw III is definitely the best of the three films. With tighter direction, a better story, and a rely less on clever murders and more on characters, this is strong film. The deathtraps and set pieces have gotten even more extravagant and gory than the last two movies with things that will make even those with the strongest stomachs wince, grimace or look away.

The best part about these franchise, and in Saw III especially, is Jigsaw. Jigsaw isn't some killer with no motive. He has a motive: appreciate your life. The fact that Jigsaw is a cancer patient on his deathbed, rather than some huge monstrous beast, he gives the audience psychological tension that we haven't seen before. Jigsaw has to be one of the most evil and morbid villains to appear on screen, but even with those factors taken into consideration it's hard not to feel some sympathy for him. How Bousman is able to turn the tables on us like that is a great achievement.

All in all Saw III is this last year's best horror film and the best in the Saw trilogy. It lives up to the hype and even provides more gut-wrenching, jaw-dropping, edge-of-your-seat intensity and excitement. The gore presses the limits of an R rating and will force many to look away, but not at the cost of numbing the experience. So what are you waiting for? Join the Gang of You, Me and Dupree

You, Me and Dupree is a comedy film released on July 14, 2006. It is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, written by Mike LeSieur, and produced by Mary Parent, Scott Stuber, and Owen Wilson.

In the last few years, Owen Wilson has climbed the Hollywood ladder, and finally found real success with Wedding Crashers. A well deserving role for him making that film a very funny one. Thanks for Owen for playing the straight man in that flick. With You, Me & Dupree, Wilson takes on the role of the buffoon named Dupree. The friend who never seemed to grow up, while Matt Dillon takes on the straight man role. Dupree is indeed funny. I laughed consistently throughout the movie. That, to me, is the most important part of a comedy.

The film revolves around Carl and Molly Peterson (Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson), newlyweds who's letting go of their single lives and learning what it means to be in a long-term relationship and all the compromises and sacrifices that can entail. But shortly after the wedding, Carl learns that his best man and best friend, Dupree (Wilson) has lost his job and apartment. He offers to let Dupree stay with him, and trouble ensues. At first, Carl is quite pleased to have his good buddy as a permanent couch guest, while Molly bears the brunt of Dupree's immature antics. But, as Carl becomes buried in his grown-up job, he finds it harder and harder to juggle Dupree and his responsibilities as a husband and soon begin to cause problems between Carl and Molly. To make matters worse, Dupree uses his ample spare time to become a great companion for Molly. Even her dad who is dedicated to breaking up the happy couple and the neighbors are falling for his carefree wisdom and charm--frustrating Carl to no end. Soon, everyone begins to root for Dupree to stick around. But as Dupree starts to become a fixture in the Peterson's home, three becomes not just a crowd--but a full blown, hilarious catastrophe.

Wilson does a great job as Dupree. He’s charming and funny, playing to his strengths throughout. Personally, I think he’s an actor that could do more, and should look to do something more. Regardless, he’s funny, and that’s the one thing that makes You, Me & Dupree worth watching. Matt Dillon is also funny, well suited in the role of the straight man. He’s proven clearly that his acting skills extend from drama to comedy quite effortlessly. Kate Hudson is, well, sexy. That’s pretty much all she does in this film. She’s pretty, and that’s what the role called for.

Overall the movie surely builds up some laughs, but in the end you’re better off sticking with some of Owen Wilson’s earlier laughs. And if you want Dillon laughs There’s Something About Mary is your better choice. If you’re a big fan of any of these stars, see this movie, otherwise, wait for the rental. The Perfect Movie to “Click”

What if you could change your whole life with a hit of a button, what part of your life would you like to change?

Click is a 2006 comedy,drama and fantasy flick starring Adam Sandler, directed by Frank Coraci and written by Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe. Dozens of classic movies and books, including Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" and Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol," tell stories of wayward men who are forced to stand back and observe their own lives from the outside. In order for the protagonist to reevaluate how past decisions affect the past, present, and future, these supernatural tales all rely on a dramatic device, such as the introduction of a guardian angel. Click, the new Adam Sandler comedy, just uses a device: a remote control.

Click follows the misadventure of Michael Newman (Sandler), who works constantly for Ammer (David Hasselhoff) as an architect vying for a partnership. His workaholic ways come at a price — he often sleeps on the couch working late nights and spends very little time with his wife (Beckinsale) and two children. Then a stranger in the “Beyond” section of a Bed, Bath and Beyond gives him a special gift: technology's latests development, the universal remote control. One that can control the ceiling fan, the garage door, the TV, VCR, toy car and whatever else happens to be lying around the house. What Michael discovers is a remote control that can operate all those things - and his life too. He can mute the dog, fast forward through dinners with his parents, skip over arguments with his wife, pause his yelling boss to punch him in the face and do lots of other cool things that we all could only wish we could do in real life. Michael quickly falls in love with his new clicker, which seems to make his life easier, but things soon go horribly wrong as he gets hilarious complications when the remote starts to overrule his choices.

I had a great time watching Click, it probably has a few too many unbecoming jokes for some and is too sappy for others but I found myself laughing out loud more than once and even getting a bit teary-eyed at other times. The movie is blessed with a strong cast that includes Sandler, Beckinsale, the always delightful but sometimes overrated Christopher Walken and Sean Astin. The scenes involving Astin and Sandler are priceless, especially the whole angle with the speedo.

In the end, Click is a silly movie, there's no doubt about that. There's lots of jokes involving the remote control and it's magical powers. There's even more involving the dog and a big, stuffed yellow bird. Some of the jokes are repeated over and over and others are a bit off-colour but I found myself laughing out loud many times. Then there's the message at the end of the movie that is seemingly beat into our heads for a rather long period of time. It's an important, touching message that I am sure many people in the world should probably pay attention to.

His greatness continues with the incredibly powerful “Flags of Our Fathers,” his most visually and ambitious film since his directorial debut with 1971's “Play Misty for Me.” Fascinating, enlightening and deeply moving, Eastwood's spectacular big screen adaptation of the best-selling book by James Bradley with Ron Powers is not only the year's best movie, but it's also one of the finest war movies ever made.

Flags of Our Fathers is Clint Eastwood's homage to the honored dead of World War II as well as a meditation upon how an icon is formed. Based on the book by James Bradley and Ron Powers, the movie centers around the Battle of Iwo Jima, one of the key late war conflicts in the Pacific. It focuses on three men that took part in raising a flag that inspired a nation when it needed it most. Five marines and a navy corpsman raised the second American flag at the top of the island's mountain, after the first smaller one was taken down. A war photojournalist happened to catch the raising of the flag in one quick photograph, which started a huge chain of events. The Raising Of The Flag Over Iwo Jima by Joe Rosenthal is arguably the most famous photograph of all time, certainly the most celebrated piece of photojournalism. Back in the states, the photo was instantly recognized for its propaganda and campaign potential.

Within a week of the photograph being taken, three out of the six flag raisers had been killed in action. John Bradley (Ryan Phillippe), Rene Gagnon (Jesse Bradford), and Ira Hayes (Adam Beach)are immediately sent back to the states to raise money for the war effort and instantly becomes an iconic heroes in the country. But the surviving flag raisers had no interest in being held up as symbols and did not consider themselves heroes; they wanted only to stay on the front with their brothers in arms who were fighting and dying without fanfare or glory. With the realization that they are home safe while their brothers are still fighting and being killed over on Iwo Jima, they are struggling with some serious guilt and flashbacks. They must attempt to come together and help each other bear the burden the photograph put on their shoulders.

At its best, Flags of Our Fathers is an eye opening and thought provoking film. It's a story of war, love, and the struggle these three men go through in their lives with the weight of America on their shoulders. In fact, most soldiers did not consider themselves to be heroes, but if you asked them, they could identify someone else - a friend, a comrade, a leader - who was. This aspect of the movie differentiates it from any other World War II film to have come before it and the film itself is brilliant.

Flags of Our Fathers will go down in history as being one of the greatest war movies created in our time. It easily compares to films like "Saving Private Ryan" and "Braveheart." Flags of Our Fathers is a must see. Clint Eastwood put his heart and soul into the film and you can really tell. The audio and video are very nice especially. The extras are good and very heartfelt. I can easily recommend this to anyone and is by far one of the greatest films in recent history. Can You Escape You're Death in “Final Destination 3”?

Final Destination 3 is a 2006 horror film, and the third film in the Final Destination series. Distributed by New Line Cinema, the film was directed and written by James Wong, who co-wrote the original. It was produced by Craig Perry.

The premise, for those of you yet to experience the first two “Final Destination” films, is this: Some unfortunate teenager has a vision of his/her impending doom. The said teen manages to use this vision to escape certain death, keeping a few other friends and passers-by alive as well. BUT: if you escape death, then death will catch up with you. Not in a simple, quick manner, mind you. No, death here is played by Rube Goldberg, and The Rube Reaper will slowly set into motion the worst chain of events possible, thus killing you in the most gruesome of manners. Death, you need to understand, is highly inefficient, but it does has one hell of a sense of humor.

This time around he(Death) plans to kill an entire Roller coaster full of unsuspecting teens that are out for a night of fun just before graduation. On what should be one of the happiest days of her life, high school senior Wendy (Winstead) joins her friends at a local amusement park. Secured in her seat on a roller coaster, Wendy experiences a vivid premonition of a fatal accident in which the roller coaster becomes a death trap for her and her friends. Emerging from her terrifying vision and still on the ride platform, Wendy demands to be let out of the coaster car. When a fight breaks out, a handful of students are forcibly ejected from the ride. As they watch their classmates and friends from the ground below, Wendy’s premonition proves nightmarishly true – the coaster careens out of control, and all of those aboard perish. But that’s only the beginning. Those who survive the disaster discover that fate is hard to escape. They were meant to die – and death cannot be easily cheated! It’s not long before death comes to claim its next victim, and it’s through this tragedy that Wendy realizes that there are clues to the survivors’ impending demise contained in photos she took at the amusement park that fateful night. As Wendy and her classmate Kevin (Merriman) desperately try to interpret the clues that might save lives, one-by-one their friends meet fantastically gruesome ends…and soon it will be their turn.

No one from the other Final Destination movies makes an appearance here, although there are references to the events in both. Death is the only returning character, and He doesn't require an actor or a costume. Winstead and Merriman make attractive, likeable leads and the supporting cast create recognisable characters without descending too far into cliché. The effects are superb too, particularly the Rollercoaster of death centrepiece. The deaths come in a suitable rhythm, establishing a worthy balance of jolts and jokes, which the film maintains an admirable sense of efficiency throughout.

I like the “Final Destination” movies. They’re scary and funny and very self-aware without being obnoxious. They are, simply, a very good time well spent at the movies. The threequel marks the return of director James Wong and co-writer Glen Morgan, the pair behind the first one and not the second. Thanks to the people behind this movie, the frights in this sequel are more fun than anything, and more so than the others, the script and direction are extremely inventive, ensuring that you’re howling with laughter, even as you cringe in horror at the increasingly gruesome deaths. The filmmakers are terrific at balancing the big moments in the movie, both in scares and humor, leaving us with a well-rounded work. Nice job.

The much anticipated movie in 2006 and probably the most controversial, hit the big screen worldwide which is based on the bestselling 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. The movie was previewed at the opening night of the Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2006. The Da Vinci Code then entered major release in many other countries on May 18, 2006 with its first showing in the United States on May 19 2006.

Because of some controversial interpretations of Christian history in both the book and movie, they were criticized by the Roman Catholic Church. Vatican officials have been injecting the public that the movie is filled with slander and errors, even though, of course, there's no way they could have yet seen it. Actually one former nun has advised Christian moviegoers to see "Over the Hedge" this weekend instead. Better to embrace the reality of talking animals than the possibility that Jesus and Mary Magdalene might have borne children together. Also some bishops even urged members to boycott the film. Many of the early showings were accompanied by protesters outside the movie theaters, and early critical reviews were decidedly mixed. But however, in its opening weekend, the film earned over US$224 million worldwide, second only to the opening of 2005's Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It is the second highest grossing movie of 2006 worldwide having reached US$756,270,019 as of November 2 2006. Those statistics can back me up when I say that this film is really successful in the box office.

The plot of the movie is about a Harvard Professor of Symbology named Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is caught up in a murder that takes place in the Louvre in Paris. Near the body of the victim the police have found a baffling code. Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see, and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter. Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), whose father knew Langdon and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion, an actual secret society who's mission is to keep secret the location of the Holy Grail. A secret they believe will devastate the Catholic church and Christians all over the world. In a breathless race through Paris, London and beyond, Langdon and Neveu try to track down the mystery of The Da Vinci Code before it falls into the wrong hands.

While not as exciting as it sounds, the movie does move well. It's not an action movie, don't be fooled by the ads on TV. It's a good mystery and a thinker. That's so hard to come by these days and this movie delivers just that. My favorite parts of the movie involve Hanks and Tautou who, I think, makes a great team. Also I love the character of an Albino guy who was chasing them (played By Paul Bettany). The direction by Ron Howard was good and moved much better. The only thing that was really annoying is it seemed to go on forever towards the end. It could have been cut 30 minutes and not suffered at all. Besides that, it's a great mystery and I had a blast!

Overall Brown’s story and Howard’s film provides an above the bar suspense thriller with some fresh and wild theories. Only the most exceptional movie ever lives up to the book it's based upon. And while this movie doesn't quite live up to its source material, it is an entertaining summer blockbuster for everyone. If you enjoyed the book I don't see how you could fail to enjoy the movie. Four-Legged Actors in Action at “Eight Below”

A very inspirational and touching movie that shows how dogs proved that they are really man's best of friend. Inspired by real events, “Eight Below” is a first-rate family film loaded with terrific performances by two and four-legged actors. “Eight Below” director Frank Marshall and Disney deliver a film that satisfies on multiple levels and should find box office gold with this genuinely touching movie.

Disney’s “Eight Below” is inspired by a 1983 Japanese blockbuster film, “Nankyoku Monogatari,” which was inspired on a real life incident that occurred in 1957 from a Japanese expedition. For this Americanized version the story is brought forward to 1993, a year chosen because it was the last year sled dog teams were allowed to work in Antarctica (they were banned to prevent the spread of distemper to the region’s seal population).

Set on the remote continent of Antarctica, Jerry Shepherd (Paul Walker) is a passionate expedition guide in the icy wilds of Antarctica. He inhabits a small research station with cartographer Charlie Cooper (Jason Biggs). As their "summer" season ends, the pair prepare to pack up. They just have one last visitor to take care of, and his name is Davis McClaren (Bruce Greenwood), a geologist who was delivered by bush pilot Katie (Moon Bloodgood) to investigate and search for a meteor rock. Against his better judgment, Shepherd agrees to escort McClaren to one of the region's more dangerous areas despite the threat of a nearing storm.

Pulling his dog team together, Jerry introduces Davis to their eight divergent and mighty sled dogs, which range from the leader Maya (Koda Bear -- the dog's real name), to youngster Max (D.J.) and experienced pup Old Jack (Apache). Shepherd and McLaren form a friendship as they cross the frigid landscape with Shepherd's eight fierce sled dogs leading the way. But disaster strikes when McLaren takes a nasty spill and winds up in glacial waters with a broken leg. Only Shepherd's top dog, Maya, can rescue the traumatized scientist just as the snow storm begins its ominous approach. But Shepherd's courage and the speed of his dogs get the group back safely. Requiring emergency transportation to a hospital and civilization, Katie's plane has room for the men, but not the dogs. That leaves the huskies alone for the winter on a part of the planet that is anything but hospitable to its inhabitants. Throughout the upcoming months, Jerry's love and admiration for the faithful canines weighs heavily and drives him to seek any possible means of return to discover their fate. Will the dogs survive?

And that's where the real strength and enjoyment of "Eight Below" lies, with the dogs and their journey, hunting for food, playing with the Borealis, and in one particularly exciting sequence, fighting with a hungry sea leopard over food. The Prestige is a 2006 period film directed by Christopher Nolan, with a screenplay adapted from the 1995 World Fantasy Award-winning novel of the same name by Christopher Priest. The story follows Robert Angier( Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden(Christian Bale ), rival stage magicians in fin de siècle London. Obsessed with creating the best stage illusion, they engage in competitive battle of magic tricks with tragic results.

In the late 1800's in London,when magicians are idols and celebrities of the highest order, Alfred Borden and Robert Angier are two up-and-coming magicians who are close friends until a tragic event turns them into bitter rivals. Robert Angier is a superior showman while Albert Borden is not quite the showman but appears to be the better natural magician. When it comes to magic, appearances can be deceiving. Both men become famous performers on the London theatrical circuit and spend too much time trying to sabotage each others performances, at times to the point where extreme violence ensues. Borden eventually develops a fantastic illusion called "The Transported Man" where he disappears on one side of the stage and simultaneously reappears on the other side. Angier (later known as The Great Danton) drives himself insane trying to figure out "the prestige" of The Transporter Man and even develops his own version in which he uses his superior showmanship to make his show a success. But The Great Danton is not satisfied with his accomplishments and continues to pursue the secrets of Borden, even using his beautiful assistant Olivia (Scarlett Johansson) to seduce his rival. Angier's quest to upstage Borden takes a shocking turn when he meets Nikola Tesla. The scientist creates a device that ensures Angier will upstage Borden, but at what cost? Unfortunately for both men, their bitter rivalry takes them down a road that will only result in disaster and death.

Bale and Jackman do a good job of men aiming at each other’s throats while trying to maintain a normal family life. They were are all excellent in their roles. Jackman is given the opportunity to show both the good side and dark side of his character. The same goes for Bale. The result is a pair of very complex characters up on the screen that are neither hero nor villain.

And then when you reach the big twist, you are astonished. This is the greatest part of the film. And what happens after the big twist? Another big twist. Then another. Then when you think that you’ve got it all figured out – that you can predict how this magician of a filmmaker is pulling off his tricks – you are hit with another final blow more powerful than anything that could have preceded it.

The real magic of The Prestige is executed by its director. Nolan uses all the tools available to him here. He realizes the strongest potential of his actors -- the mask-like charms of Jackman, the bordering-on-psycho mania of Bale, and the wise and confident dignity of Michael Caine as the magicians' mentor. He combines technique, theme, and the subject of the world of magic to create a dazzling movie about very disreputable things. Everyone have experienced the unsettling mystery of déjà vu--that flash of memory when you meet someone new you feel you've known all your life or recognize a place even though you've never been there before. But what if the feelings were actually warnings sent from the past or clues to the future?

Déjà Vu is a science fiction crime thriller directed by Tony Scott, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and starring Denzel Washington. It is a thriller that uses time travel as the device upon which it rests it's plot. The end result is a film that is thrilling and deals intelligently with the theory of time travel. This movie was the first film made in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was determined to film in this city that provided such haunting scenery.

It's Fat Tuesday in New Orleans, February 2006. The city, still recovering from Hurricane Katrina, is about to take another blow. A ferry explodes just off shore, sending terrifying black and red flames 350 feet in the air and causing the deaths of 543 people, many of them members of the military and their children. It's identified almost immediately as an act of terrorism. Called in to investigate is Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington), of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, examining the debris and looking for “what doesn’t belong.” He soon finds what he is looking for, a beautiful young woman, Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton), who appears to be a victim of the ferry explosion, but was discovered before the explosion happened. Later on, Carlin discovers a connection between the ferry bombing and the murder of a young woman.

Doug's expertise catches the eye of FBI agent Andrew Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer), who pulls him in to take part in a top-secret project run by the brainy Dr. Alexander Denny (Adam Goldberg). Said project, involves digitally re-creating the past through surveillance cameras, combining all the satellite images and using software to show every detail of what happened they can see the past play out in 3D. The glitch is that they can only see 4 days 6 hours into the past, however they can manipulate their angle of view as well as zoom in and out of any scene. But Carlin doesn't believe them. He thinks it's something else, and he's determined to find out what. And this will lead Carlin to discover that what most people believe "is only in their heads" is actually something far more powerful and will lead him on a mind-bending race to save hundreds of innocent people.

The time travel portion of the film is a clever plot device that allows some various reveals and action sequences. Among those action sequences in one of the most unique and engrossing car chases that I have seen in quite some time. It gives the writers license to play with the facts and switch things around when you least expect it. It is a device that works perfectly with the visual sensibilities of Scott and lets the script from Bill Marsilii and Terry Rossio have a little fun with the subject. At the heart of the film is Denzel Washington, an actor who displays an on screen charisma and intelligence that fits right in with everything that is going on.

Bottomline is Tony Scott creates another compelling piece of pop cinema. It gives the appearance of brains, delivers the adrenaline filled goods and leaves you happy, slightly confused, but definitely entertained. The Covenant is a 2006 horror/thriller film directed by Renny Harlin and written by J. S. Cardone. The story concerns a group of five families who came to America to escape the persecution of witches, and were among the founders of Ipswich. One of the families was thought to have been killed off during the Salem Witch Hunts. Fast forward to present, the sons of the remaining four families are the coolest kids in school, anybody who is anybody wants to be friends with them. Caleb, Pogue, Reid and Tyler were born with paranormal powers, including telekinesis, levitation, and the ability to generate energy weapons. They can also cast spells. The powers, though, are both addictive and accelerate the aging process of their bodies every time they used it. All seems normal within their small community, until two transfer students arrive.

The first transfer student is Chase, whom no one knows anything about. The second is Sarah, which Caleb takes a liking to very quickly. While Caleb and Sarah become closer, he begins to suspect someone is using their powers for evil, but it takes Caleb a while to figure out their identity. After long, he discovers that an unknown descendant of the fifth family of Ipswich has come back to seek revenge on The Covenant. All of which leads to the inevitable magical contest between witches inside an old barn where the original covenant was made in the late 17th century.

The Covenant gives us exactly what we’d expect from a generic teen-oriented, PG-13 rated supernatural horror flick, including a romance between Caleb and Sarah, multiple brawls between the characters, raging of their supernatural powers, and some thrilling duels between the antagonists. Giving my credits to the filmmakers for doing a good job of giving the film its wet gothic look, a barrage of special effects, cool and unique powers they have, and nice heavy music used throughout the movie.

All in all, although this is not the best flick of the year, it was still a great and entertaining movie to watch. But when Satan's son, Blackheart (Wes Bentley), decides to make Earth his dominion with the help of three fallen angels, called the Hidden, Johnny becomes the Ghost Rider. His duty is to hunt down and defeat Blackheart and his three minions, save Roxanne from the clutches of evil, and return the balance of the world.

I recommend Ghost Rider for the many fans of this cult classic flaming skull hero comic books. I enjoyed Ghost Rider because I'm a fan of the comic books and really enjoy some of the adaptations that are transferred to the big screen. The story is actually pretty good and original. The characters are well rounded. Nicolas Cage brought to Ghost Rider what Michael Keaton brought to Batman. The action sequences are great, and there are plenty of them. The visual effects were tremendous like the transformation of Ghost Rider, the demons he fought, the flaming bike, chain and gun was outstanding.

Overall this film will serve its viewers justice. It will makes you jump on you're seat, scream and even makes you laugh sometimes. This is one movie I will be sure to grab a copy and it will be a money well spent. The second Pirates of Caribbean does more than improve on the original, it pumps out the bilge and offers a fresh start. The dialogues and script in the movie were intense, witty, honest and intelligent. The story is filled with current events and has a definite strong political sense which is needed right now. The visual part was incredible, yet no "Matrix" effects used. Everything looks beautiful, dark yet vibrant. The cinematography is top notch. The final battle scene brought tears to my eyes. She has a son, Jason (Tristan Leabu), and engaged to his live-in boyfriend, Richard (James Marsden), that sends the Man Of Steel into meltdown. This unfold the emotional conflict that steer the movie in a new level.

All in all, "Superman Returns" features great performances, cool special effects, and beautiful imagery. Visually, it offers the kind of upgrade one would expect after a quarter century layoff. This time, you really believe a man can fly.

Remy is a French country rat. He dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. He's considered as an oddball by his friends and family because he loves fine foods and cooking. But when Remy and his rat colony run out of their farmhouse home, he accidentally ended up in Paris specifically at Gusteau's, a fine dining restaurant and a rat phobic location, established by his cooking idol Auguste Gusteau. Remy arrives at the restaurant at the same time as Linguini, the new garbage boy. Linguini also loves to cook, but lacks one necessary thing – the ability to cook and was about to lose his job at the restaurant. By dumb luck, Linguini discovers that Remy can actually cook. Seeing both of their dreams potentially coming true, they form an unlikely partnership. Together, the rodent and the garbage boy become a star chef known for elevating even peasant food like "Ratatouille.” Remy's passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

There are moments of laugh aloud comedy sprinkled throughout and I had a smile firmly planted on my face from beginning to end as I watched the truly wonderful story unfold. The computer generated animation is exceptional, Parisian backdrops and nightscapes glow, kitchen knives gleam. The characters are lovingly defined and Remy himself is one little rat that I would not mind being in my kitchen. Also the film's climatic scene, where Gusteau's kitchen is overrun with cooking rats, is a bit of mind-blowing brilliance.

Ratatouille opened to universal applaud. As of mid October, 2007, the film is 97% 'certified fresh' on Rotten Tomatoes and scores 96/100 on Metacritic. The film, as of July 2007, is the sixth highest Metacritic film rating ever, and the highest for Pixar and Disney in general. The film debuted at #1 with $47 million United States weekend sales, the lowest Pixar opening since A Bug's Life. However, in France, the location in which the film takes place, the film broke the record for the biggest debut for an animated film. In UK, the film debuted at #1 with sales over £4million. Han soon welcomes Sean into this family and introduces him to the real principles of drifting. Here Sean meets new friends and learns a new way to race, at the same time gaining a few enemies. Testing his patience and skill, he learns courage and gains respect from his friends and his father.

Also flying is Kenan Thompson, who plays a bodyguard more concerned with his videogames than protecting the famous rapper Three-G's, both add just the right amount of comedic breaks that the film calls for.

Abrams, making his directorial debut, greatly resembles his television work - particularly "Alias" - while taking advantage of films' ability to do large and stunning set pieces, of which M:i:III has several and all are generally very well executed. With a reported budget of $185 million, M:i:III is the most expensive movie ever undertaken by a first-time director.

It has a great opening action sequence, full of twists and turns with action elements occurring on multiple levels and engaging the entire cast. The film opens with an amazing, taut two-minute pre-credits teaser that leaves the audience desperate for more. Cruise, as secret agent Ethan Hunt, has been drugged, beaten and handcuffed to a chair. Baddie Philip Seymour Hoffman has kidnapped Ethan's wife, Julia (Michelle Monaghan), and he wants Ethan to watch as he tortures her. As Hoffman coos and flutters around the terrified woman, Cruise squints, blinks and bucks. Though it kind of spoils what happens later in the story, but it hooks the audience and pulls them fully on board for the ride in the movie.

Super-spy Ethan Hunt has retired from active duty to train new IMF agents. But he is called back into duty to confront the toughest villain he's ever faced - Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman), an international weapons and information provider with no remorse and no conscience in Berlin. Hunt assembles his team - his old friend Luther Strickell (Ving Rhames), transportation expert Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), background operative Zhen (Maggie Q), and fresh recruit Lindsey (Keri Russell) - to travel the globe pursuing Davian. But the mission just results in the capturing of Lindsey and kidnapping of his wife, Julia. Now he's again in the mission to rescue his co-agent and most of all rescue his love, Julia in the hands of Davian.

For me, this is the most action-packed "Mission: Impossible" so far. If you're a fan of the previous "Mission: Impossible" films, I'm sure you'll be pleased with this sequel. It has all the action and suspense of its predecessors and it further develops the character of Ethan Hunt and his fellow spies. It also features more of the clever spy gadgets that would make James Bond green with envy. Fans of "Alias" should also be pleased with this film. Writer-director J.J. Abrams brings a lot of the elements that made "Alias" great into "Mission: Impossible III." There's international intrigue, romance, conspiracy, and tense action. The creative and financial successes of fantasy novel films nowadays have changed the way fantasy was viewed by movie-goers. The cast includes Edward Speleers in the title role, Jeremy Irons, Garrett Hedlund, Sienna Guillory, Robert Carlyle, John Malkovich, Djimon Hounsou and Joss Stone. The film was directed by Stefen Fangmeier, a first-time director, who had previously worked as a visual effects director on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. The screenplay was written by Peter Buchman, who is best known for Jurassic Park III and special visual effects and animation were by Weta Digital and Industrial Light & Magic.

The egg hatches and the dragon, named Saphira, immediately bonds with Eragon. Unfortunately this makes him a target for King Galbatorix and his sorcerer henchman, Durza. Eragon soon found himself and his family under attack, but he was rescued by Brom, a warrior with a mysterious past. Brom leads him on a journey to meet with the rebels and along the way teaches him magic, swordfighting, and dragon-riding to fulfill the legend of the dragon riders and his destiny. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire rest in his hands.

The most notable thing about the film is its special effects. When Eragon and Saphira are in flight or in battle, this movie is at its most engaging fun to watch. And considering how director Stefen Fangmeier used to work at ILM, it's not surprising the visual effects are done well. Saphira is the centerpiece of that work and her design is quite unique. She has a combination of scales and feathers that give her a look unlike any other movie dragon. Her animation alone makes Eragon worth checking out. The closing battle scene alone is quite impressive.

Eragon is rated PG for fantasy violence, intense battle sequences and some frightening images. The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations. This live-action movie will be based upon the popular line of robot toys produced by Hasbro since the early 1980s that "transform" from recognizable machines or animals into giant robots. The planet of Cybertron is the homeworld of a race of robots which have the ability to transform into other mechanisms, with each Transformer having its own unique disguise. With fuel supplies called Energon Cubes on Cybertron running low, both forces travel through space looking for a new source, which leads them to Earth, which from their perspective is rich in the minerals and chemicals they need. Disguising themselves as cars, airplanes, boats, etc. easily recognizable to humans, the Transformers engage in a secret war for control of Earth's bountiful natural resources. This secret war explodes into action when Spike Witwicky, the descendant of a 19th century sailor, buys a yellow sports car which turns out to be an Autobot named Bumblebee. What Spike doesn't know is that the eyeglasses he inherited have a secret map burned into the lens by the evil Decepticon leader, Megatron. This map details the location of a mysterious power source which could turn the course of the war between the two factions of Transformers. Meanwhile, the war begins with an attack by Scorponok, a giant scorpion-like Decepticon, on a military base in the Middle East, as the various Transformers on both sides awake to spark war on Earth.

The special effects are fantastic. The battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron, Bumblebee and Barricade, and other characters are all stunning. They are jaw dropping spectacles of destruction in their battle scenes. Although some of the ideas are edited or even removed from the original story, the spirit of the original cartoon remains. Michael Bay's "Transformers" is officially the first summer blockbuster that delivers what was promised. "Transformers" is a fast paced action film that incorporates amazing visual effects and '80s nostalgia to make for a simplistic yet entertaining story. Though they were defeated, they inflicted unspeakable casualties against the Persians, and bought the Greek city-states enough time to rally and those fearless actions of the noble fighters inspired all of Greece to stand up against their Persian enemy and wage the battle that would ultimately give birth to the modern concept of democracy.

It’s this mindful attitude towards Millers source material which elevates 300 to be primarily an action film with tone of fantasy rather than a period war drama, offering more similarities to Lord of the Rings in its glorification of battle and folklore than it does to Gladiator, Troy or Alexander. But forget Gladiator, forget Troy and Alexander. None of these movies can hold the display of burning flame and intensity of 300.

Above all, 300 remains a stunningly entertaining spectacle, its abstract allegory harnessing the power of the medium to outstanding effect. Its edges may not be perfect, but the heart beneath it remains strong: a fierce, engrossing myth about determined men who once drew a line in the sand and defended it with everything they had. But all of that is minor compared to the arrival of the Silver Surfer(Doug Jones, voice of Laurence Fishburne). The alien visitor wreaks havoc around the planet and causes widespread panic. Little does anyone realize that he's the herald of a bigger threat to come, the arrival of The Galactus. The team faces an enemy so powerful they have no other choice but to work with their former enemy Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon), but can Doom really be trusted?. Reed, Sue, and the other members of their quartet, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, must hurry and find their best efforts to stop the Surfer from ruining planet Earth before Galactus looms closer and closer to destroy everything around the planet.

Also, some of the new details being added to the series with this sequel are the introduction of the Fantasticar (a flying car, often shown as a convertible in the comics with detachable seats/parts), more development in the relationship between Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters, and a new costume and mask for Doctor Doom which is more faithful to his traditional appearance in the comics.

"Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" -- like the first picture, was directed by Tim Story -- is bigger, better, more ambitious and well polished than its predecessor. It's also more cluttered and less fleet. It features more humor, less camp, better action sequences, and the addition of the Surfer. A running gag about our heroes switching powers provides some amusing moments, too. The special effects are also grander and the action scenes are a lot better. "Eastern Promises" is no ordinary crime thriller, just as Cronenberg is no ordinary director. Beginning with low-rent horror films in the 1970s, Cronenberg has moved film by film into the top rank of directors, and on this film he wisely reunites with Mortensen, star of their "A History of Violence" (2005). “A History of Violence” brought director David Cronenberg a massive amount of applaud, a flicker of box office might, and returned a focal point to his filmmaking.

We've seen plenty of Irish and Italian gangsters in the movies, but comparatively few Russians. With the fall of the Iron Curtain, criminal organizations centered on ex-Soviet immigrants have grown to frightening proportions, yet few motion pictures have really tackled them as a serious subject and Cronenberg's “Eastern Promises” is one of them.

Cronenberg -- the master of body horror as a path to the soul -- begin his mesmerizing power-punch of a thriller with a hemorrhage. The bloody fetus that we watch a fourteen-year-old Russian girl’s uterus struggle to expel is a child of rape. The teenage girl who hemorrhages is raced to a hospital and dies in childbirth in the arms of a midwife named Anna Khitrova (Naomi Watts). Fiercely determined to protect the helpless surviving infant, Anna resolves to try to trace the baby's lineage and relatives. She uses her Russian-born mother and uncle (Sinead Cusack and Jerzy Skolimowski) to translate the dead girl's diary, and it leads her to a Trans-Siberian restaurant run by Semyon (Armin Mueller-Stahl) and his son Kirill (Vincent Cassel), the head of the mafia family called the Vory V Zakone that's main business is to traffic girls, drugs and other illegal materials. Anna's path leads to Nikolai Luzhin (Viggo Mortensen), a driver and butcher for the mafia.

When Kirill gets into trouble with a rival gang, Nikolai offers his assistance and Semyon replies with an invitation to join the brotherhood. The deeper Nikolai sinks into the world of the Vory, the more Anna discovers about the baby's past, the more Nikolai helps her in his unique menacing way against the Vory V Zakone. Is Nikolai essentially good? Is he evil? Western Movie's Getting Better: “3:10 To Yuma”

James Mangold's "3:10 to Yuma" restores the wounded heart of the Western movies and brought back the good old memories of it. The Western in its glory days most likely about humanist values penetrating the lawless anarchy of the frontier. It still follows that tradition in films like other Western movies that comes out but the audience's appetite for morality plays and Westerns seems to be fading. In the movie, quality of the acting and the thought behind the film make it seem like a giving it a new flavor and taste of modern Western movie , even though it's a remake of a good movie 50 years old(which was adapted from an Elmore Leonard short story).

It's the Old West as we know it: stagecoaches, horses, gunfights, ramshackle towns and ofcourse some dangerous bad guys and gangsters. Director James Mangold (Walk the Line) has assembled a respectable cast, with Christian Bale playing opposite Russell Crowe and recognizable names like Peter Fonda, Ben Foster, and Gretchen Mol in supporting roles. It wouldn't be fair to claim that this is the best Western film that i've ever watchrf but surely it's worth the investing your time and money to see this movie.

In Arizona in the late 1800, a man named Dan Evans (Christian Bale), who was a sharpshooter but lost a leg in the Civil War who gets no respect from anyone in his life, has come to the Arizona territory to try his luck at ranching. It's going badly, made worse by a neighboring bully who wants to force him off his land, his cattle are dying because of drought, his mortgage holder is trying to force him off the land, his wife, Alice (Gretchen Mol), is regretful, and Will, his 14-year-old son considers him as weak as green tea. Poor Dan, all the odds seems pressuring him a lot.

Outlaw legend Ben Wade (Crowe), a man who would as soon kill you as look at you, is, by contrast, at the top of his game. He robs stagecoaches at will, his word is law as far as his vicious gang of miscreants is concerned and plague the whole Southern Railroad in Arizona. When Ben was caught by the government, a series of developments that seem almost dictated by fate, Dan Evans, in order for him survive his struggling drought-plagued ranch, he risk his life as a volunteer and finds himself as part of group of people sworn in to escort Wade, captured and handcuffed, to the nearby town of Contention, where the 3:10 p.m. train has a cell in its mail car that will transport Wade to the prison in Yuma and a certain death sentence. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other's respect. But with Wade's outfit on their trail – and dangerous at every turn – the mission soon becomes violent, impossible journey toward each man's destiny.

These general outlines also describe the 1957 version of "3:10 to Yuma," directed by Delmer Daves, starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin in the roles of the rancher and the outlaw. But for me, Mangold's version is better still than the 1957 original, because it has better actors with more thought behind their dialogue. The theme and the message in the film is more modern and mature compare to the original. I will give the credit to Mangold's unique approach in the movie.

The 30-minute finale, which includes a tense stand-off with Ben's gang, was masterfully executed. It's perfectly paced, suspenseful, and ends in a way that's both appropriate and satisfying. Watching a movie like this, I can't help but wish that the Western would come back into favor again. Finally, a tip for all who wants to see the movie, attend well to Ben Wade's last words in this movie, and who he says them to, and why.

Jodie Foster as “The Brave One”

“The Brave One” starring Jodie Foster is in the same vain as her recent thrillers, Flightplan and Panic Room, only this one is grittier and more harrowing. Foster is such a good actress in thrillers: natural, unaffected, threatened, plucky, looking like she means it. And Neil Jordan's "The Brave One" gives her someone strong like her to play against.

“The Brave One” is an interesting revenge flick, although it is bloody and at times brutal, it doesn't revel in the violence. There's more to the movie than initially meets the eye for an eye. This is about the psychology of revenge and whether a person who takes a stance as a vigilante has crossed over an ambiguous moral line.

Foster plays Erica, a talk jock on a New York radio station where she walks the streets and observes the changes that are happening in the city she loves. She's engaged to a doctor named David (Naveen Andrews). On an unfortunate night that they were in Central Park, they were mugged, he's killed, and she's badly injured. Erica survives, at least physically. Emotionally, she's a hollow shell. She spent three weeks in the hospital recovering, then it took some time before she gathered the courage to venture outside of her apartment. Her illusion of a safe city life is destroyed. One day she bought a gun and practiced on a shooting range where you can see fear turning into anger in her eyes. Erica’s fear later turns into a misguided purpose as she decides to take matters into her own hands by punishing “bad guys” on the street with her illegal nine millimeter. Detective Mercer (Terrence Howard) and his partner Vitale (Nicky Katt) are tracking down this vigilante killer; Erica steps forward at a crime scene and asks to interview Mercer. They developed this rapport as they discuss the ongoing investigation. Erica is terribly conflicted and puts herself right in his crosshairs when they go together to interview the one witness to her brand of justice. You gotta wonder how this is all going to end.

That kind of psychological suspense is what makes "The Brave One" spellbinding. The movie doesn't dine out on action scenes, but regards with great curiosity how these two people will end up. “The Brave One” is technically a thriller. There is tension and uncertainty, and an unconventional cat-and-mouse game plays out between Erica and Mercer. There's a connection between them but when they face each other on the benighted streets of New York, they are on opposite sides of that uncertain demarcation between law and justice. “The Brave One” is a smart and thought-provoking motion picture that re-examines a genre without violating its conventions.

The Seeker: The Dark Rising

With the successful film versions of the "Harry Potter" and "Narnia" books, it's no surprise that similar works are getting the big screen treatment, and Susan Cooper's "The Dark Is Rising" sequence is the latest in the bunch. The Seeker is based upon the 5-book young adults fantasy series of novels The Dark is Rising, especially the second book in the series, which is also titled "The Dark is Rising.", a winner of the Newberry Honor and a runner-up to the Newberry Medal Award in 1974.

This classic theme of light versus dark pits a young 14-year-old boy against the forces of evil in a small English village. Will Stanton (Alexander Ludwig) is going through the normal challenges of adolescence, but unlike most of them, however, Will is very different. He is the last of the Old Ones beings, a vanishing group of people destined to fight the forces of evil known as The Dark, led by a figure called The Rider (Christopher Eccleston). Leading Will through his journey of discovery are a group of “Old Ones” led by Merriman (Ian McShane) and Frances Conroy,. They will help Will harness his powers so that he can travel through time and seek out 6 stones that will give him the power to knock The Rider down. With the world's nearly heading for obliteration by the enemies, the young teen has only five days to collect six symbolic signs that will reverse the advance of the dark forces. So better watch the movie and follow the fun and exciting adventure of Will as he searches through snake-infested tombs, sneaks past medieval pillagers and fights off fantastical creatures sent by The Rider to hamper his efforts to save the world from the hands of the dark ones.

The series of young-adult fantasy novels this flick is based upon long predate Harry Potter, they were written in the 1960s and 70's. Like Harry Potter, the main character in The Seeker is a teenage boy learning how to employ magical powers against evil. So naturally, critics are comparing it to the Potter movies. But i found that this first installment in a film fantasy series, could turn out to be the new Harry Potter. It has also a magic that drive the watcher's instinct of expecting more adventure by the main character. So better wait for its other installments. I'm sure the story gets even better and exiting in its next sequel as Will's adventure continues.

The movie is brought to you by 20th Century Fox and it was released last October 5th, 2007, hitting the big screen for more than 3000 theaters worldwide. It last for 98 minutes of fun adventure and some cool effects displayed in the movie that makes it very entertaining to watch.

The cast includes a Cameron Diaz lookalike Malin Akerman and young new actress in Hollywood Michelle Monaghan, this film will fill you with almost two hours of *nonstop laughter and sheer enterntainment. This hilarious-comedy movie is a remake of Elaine May's 1972 comedy, originally written by Neil Simon. The Farrelly Brothers (Bobby and Peter), the directors, gave the film a new look and definetely a fun experience for those who watched this film.

Unmarried and just turned 40, sporting goods store owner in San Francisco Eddie Cantrow (Ben Stiller) have'nt been as lucky in love as his friends. Feeling like the whole world has paired off except him, he is hungry for romance and wants to meet the girl of his dream ASAP.

After he interrupts and save a beautiful girl from a snatcher on the streets of San Francisco, Eddie meets the vivacious Lila (Malin Akerman). Thinking that she's the perfect woman for him, Eddie *was convinced that Lila is the woman he's meant to be with *which resulted in a hasty proposal. The duo quickly got married and proceeded to go on the honeymoon from at a Mexican resort where all of Lila's secrets started coming out. The evidence starts piling up from the moment they hit the road when Lila shows hilarious attitude that normally womans don't have. More of her hideous attitude came out and Eddie begins to realize he's made a terrible mistake of marrying Lila. At the resort, Eddie had a chance to meet Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), a wholesome high school lacrossed teacher which result in a casual conversation between them. Soon, Eddie is producing excuses to leave his bride behind and spend time with Miranda together. As he fall in-love for Miranda, Eddie tries his best to level with both women. But a series of misunderstandings leads to a wildly funny confrontation among a man, two women and a Portuguese man o' war as Eddie finds a way to escape from his days-old marriage without losing the girl of his dreams.

I noticed some of the contents and funny jokes scene in the movie seems somehow like in the movie “There's Something About Marry”,also a Ben Stiller's movie, that doesn't set any new standards in comedy movie. But all-in-all, I found the movie very entertaining and most of its jokes were in timing result in a good delivery of those and for sure watching this film really makes your money and time well spent. MPAA rated it as “R” for strong sexual content, crude humor and language in the movie. The movie was released last October 5, 2007 in 3229 theaters worldwide and is now available on DVDs at DVD.tv

The Unlucky Chuck : “Good Luck Chuck”

Funny and Nudity, are the two words that best describe this romantic comedy film directed by Mark Helfrich. The movie is based on the short story of Steve Glenn where the character Charlie (Dane Cook), who is not really called as "Chuck," except in the title, was cursed by an 11-year old goth girl during a 1985 game of spin-the-bottle party. He fights off her enthusiastic sexual assault so she issued a curse that “every woman he falls in love with will leave him and immediately find the man of her dreams.” From then, started the hilarious and misadventure packed movie.

Charlie grows up to become a dentist with an office next to his plastic-surgeon pal Stu(Dan Fogler). His best friend is still the short, chubby, curly-haired. Stu, obsessed by breasts, has grown up to become a cosmetic surgeon specializing in breast enlargements. When they attend the wedding of one of Chuck’s exes, he begins to realize that every girl he ever had a relationship with has found happiness with the next man she met. And then suddenly Charlie, who has been unlucky in love, fall head-over-heels for the accident-prone Cam (Jessica Alba), who works at a sea aquarium and loves penguins so much. Charlie love Cam so much but he recognizes the horrible truth: if he has sex with Cam, he will lose her forever. Even worse, the rumor spreads around the town about his curse but he still get a lot of dates and of course sex with the girls in town, but no true romance. Women only want him so they can find a life partner in whoever follows him into their lives. How will this paradox be resolved? Will Charlie finally find his true love?

The last Resident Evil? "Resident Evil: Extinction"

Alice is back! Not the one in Wonderland wearing red shoes,I'm talking about the Alice in Zombie-land with guns and long knives.

Picking up three years after Resident Evil: Apocalypse, another installment of the so ever popular video game-inspired Resident Evil (RE) was released last September 21 entitled Resident Evil:Extinction, and still hitting the big screen in more than 2,820 theaters all over the world in its second week. "Extinction" picks up several years after the T-virus from the earlier films has spread around the world, discovering that the nukes weren't all that effective in containing the virus in the previous movie and turning those infected into the walking dead, and even zombie dogs and a sky full of zombie crows around the globe.

From an underground base in Nevada, Umbrella scientists led by the evil Dr. Issacs (Iain Glen) are attempting to synthesize a cure to the virus, using clones grown from Alice's blood. To be able to escape from the hands of the Umbrella, Alice (Milla Jovovich) went and travel in a wasteland alone to avoid being tracked by them. Then she meet up Claire (Ali Larter) with Carlos (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps) both from the previous “Apocalypes” to go to Alaska, a virus-free zone. But first they decided to head to the ruins of Las Vegas to refuel for the big trip. Another display of zombie butt-kicking and series of gunslinging held and they ended up in the climax, the final battle with Umbrella and the evil Dr. Isaacs, fighting a boss-type zombie.

Sony claims that RE:Extinction is the third and final installment of the series but you have to see for yourself! The film was assessed by the MPAA and gave a rating of “R” for non-stop violence, language and some nudity in the movie. It was directed by Russell Mulcahy and the movie last for about 1 hour and 35 minutes of zombie butt-kicking. As of now, the film is doing great in the US Box Office with a whopping $36,826,411.

“The Game Plan”

It is still reigning in the number one spot in movie ranking (just behind is the movie “The Kingdom” at the number two slot) since it was first release last September 28th, 2007 worldwide with a current gross of $22,675,000 considering it is just its first week of releasing the film.

The story of this film is about a Quarterback of the football team “ The Rebels” named Joe Kingman, the most valuable player of the team and one of the toughest player to ever take the field. Blessed with amazing strength and agility, he is famous for being able to handle any hit, no matter how ferocious the enemy was. Joe has been living the life of an ultimate bachelor fantasy, he's cool, rich, famous and the life of every party--and there are a lots, lots of parties. The team of Joe is chasing for their long-awaited championship cup with their long rivalry team and then the twist of the movie come. His dream is suddenly sacked for a loss when he discovers that Peyton, the 8-year-old daughter that he never knew existed from his ex-girl friend after she dies, on his doorstep. Now, just as his career is soaring, Joe must learn to juggle his old lifestyle of parties, practices and dates with supermodels while tackling the new challenges of ballet, bedtime stories and baby dolls--all without fumbling. Very funny isn't it? Imagine the ferocious “The Rock” doing baby sitting in his daughter. Equally perplexed is his hard-edged mega-agent, Stella Peck, herself without a parental bone in her body. But, as the championship grows nearer, Joe is about to realize that the game that truly matters has nothing to do with money, endorsements or even touchdowns--it's all about the really tough stuff: patience, teamwork, selflessness and winning the heart of the one little fan who turns out to count the most. That's so sweet for a man like Joe.

All-in-all, I recommend this movie for everyone। There is no profanity or crude jokes, so children of any age could watch this. There is football and girlie aspects so young to teens, boys and girls would enjoy this movie. The story is cool yet cute and funny with light drama in the end so never to miss this movie to watch. MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) rate this film as “PG” for some mild thematic elements. It will last for one hour and fifty minutes of laughing experienced with the cast, so do not forget to bring popcorn!.
