The “Next” Big Thing

http://www.lamarsmoviepalace.com/Next represents Nicolas Cage's second superhero movie in the span of two months. The previous film Ghost Rider was based on a comic book, the new film was loosely based on the science fiction short story "The Golden Man" by Philip K. Dick. The film was directed by Lee Tamahori and stars Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, and Jessica Biel. The film was released on April 27, 2007 and the film opened at #3 at the U.S. box office, grossing US$7.1 million in 2,725 theaters in its opening weekend. In its eight-week run in the United States, it grossed a total of $18 million and has a combined worldwide gross of $58.1 million.

Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) has an ability that makes him unique among men - he can see up to two minutes into his future. This gives him short term invulnerability and allows him to be extraordinarily effective in crime fighting situations.

Cris Johnson is actually one of Cage's better action characters, more like Benjamin Gates of "National Treasure" in terms of charm and personality, because he always knows what to say and do. This comes across the best as he tries to win over the beautiful woman he's seen and became obsessed with. Since he can see further into her future than his own, when that woman, Liz(Jessica Biel), walks into the diner where Cris has dreamt of meeting her, he's forced to come up with the perfect opening, examining all the possible reactions and outcomes of making the wrong first move. This is one of the more entertaining non-action scenes of the movie.

Cris calls himself Frank Cadillac for his Las Vegas magician's show having just only a $50 talent fee for his tricks ,so Cris uses his visionary skills at the casinos to earn a little extra money. FBI agent Callie Ferris (Oscar nominee Moore) knows Cris' true nature and hidden ability, and relentlessly recruits him to help thwart a terrorist group from detonating a nuclear bomb in the heart of Los Angeles and FBI believes Cris can help them prevent a such disaster by predicting where the bomb will be placed before the blast.
